Vouchers and Accountability: The Faulty Logic of the Dishonest Politician

Dishonest Political Logic: We need vouchers to save poor public school children from failing public schools.  The parents of these poor children will use the vouchers to assist in paying for tuition at good private schools.

Honest Question: How do we know that public schools are failing?

Dishonest Political Logic: We know that public schools are failing because they are not meeting state accountability standards.

Honest Question: How do we know that private schools are good?

Dishonest Political Logic: We know that private schools are good because they are not failing to meet state accountability standards. BECAUSE THERE ARE NO STATE ACCOUNTABILITY STANDARDS FOR PRIVATE SCHOOLS.

Honest Question: So instead of vouchers, why don’t we level the playing field?

Either repeal state public school accountability standards. Then just like private schools, there will be no unacceptable public schools. This would seem to be a small government, fiscally conservative solution.

Or make private schools meet all state accountability and operational standards. This is kind of a big government solution. But at least both of these solutions are… honest.

Stealing from Children (Otherwise Known as Voucher Funding)

Don’t trust the politicians who wraps themselves in the cloak of, “I support vouchers because they are good for children.”

They are LYING.

Vouchers are not good for children. Vouchers STEAL from children.

Let me explain.  There are two ways to fund vouchers.  The first is to take money that is earmarked for public schools and public school children and divert that STOLEN money to fund private school vouchers.

The second way to fund vouchers is to leave public school funding at its current IMPOVERISHED state and find money from other sources to fund vouchers. Except this new money isn’t new. It was already in place. Only the ANTI-PUBLIC SCHOOL politician had previously decided that public school children didn’t need that funding.  Which means the politician was PURPOSEFULLY UNDERFUNDING public education.

No matter how LYING politicians try to spin underfunding and stealing from public school children, it is never good for public school children. It is VICTIMIZING public school children.

Think. Work. Achieve.

Vouchers and Schools That Don't Meet Accountability Standards

Lying politicians tell us that vouchers are for rescuing students from schools that don’t meet state and federal accountability standards.

For the sake of argument, let’s say that I accept that as a valid reason. I don’t, but play along.

If I’m saving the student from the school that doesn’t meet state and federal accountability standards, then it is only logical that the voucher can only be used at schools that meet state and federal accountability standards.  That way I have solved the problem and rescued the child.

However, private schools also do not meet state and federal accountability standards. Fact. Private schools are exempt from the accountability standards that all public schools are required to meet. How inconvenient.

Which means that based on “RESCUE” logic, vouchers can only be used at PUBLIC schools meeting state and federal minimum standards.

Oops, that a problem.

Unless rescuing poor public school children isn’t my real agenda.
