George Gant was born in Dothan, Alabama on June 3, 1944 and
passed away on the morning of August 6, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas.
A long time resident of Texas, George was a hardworking man
with honest convictions. He loved
life, the outdoors, his family, and his country, which he served honorably,
earning a Purple Heart as a soldier in the Vietnam Conflict. George had a
curious mind and fearless demeanor, attributes that drove and defined him. He could fix and build almost anything
and for a number of years owned his own construction business. George was a
natural leader with a generous spirit, mentoring many throughout his life,
freely providing support and counsel, and opening his home for friends and
family in need.
Predeceased by his mother, Johnnie (Marshall) Gant and
brother-in-law, Mike Croft. George
is survived by his father, Senior Master Sergeant Bunny Gant, USAF, Retired;
his wife, Sharon Gant; his children, Michael Gant and wife, Crystal; Erin
Dufour and husband, Dwight; Paul Gant; and Sean Cain and wife, Lesa; his ten
grandchildren; and his sister, Susan Croft.
Those who knew and loved George will miss him dearly.
